In honor of his many contributions, he is known as the ÒMalpana RabaÓ or the Great Doctor of the Syriac speaking/using churches. Among his many works is a poem in 12 parts on the life of Joseph, the Old Testament Patriarch. The original Syriac text was edited and published by Paul Bedjan in 1891. This volume presents a modern Assyrian translation by Qasha Shmuel Dawid (1872-1930) that was published in Chicago in 1925.
